KONE Corporation, a global leader in
the elevator and escalator industry, has won an order to provide
energy-efficient elevators and a destination control system for an
office tower under construction at 400 West Georgia in downtown
Vancouver, B.C., Canada.
The project consists of a 25-story
mixed-use building with ground floor retail space and 24 levels of
office space. Rising some 91 meters (around 296 feet) from the
ground floor to the roof, the building includes six floors below
ground. Elevator installation is scheduled for the summer of 2019,
with substantial project completion expected in mid-2020.
Described as a living sculpture, the
building will integrate new technologies with state-of-the-art
design features, including a triple-paned curtain wall, operable
windows, large spans of column-free space, glass floors and lush
greenery in a design tailored to maximize efficiency and aimed at
meeting LEED Platinum criteria.

KONE solutions at 400 West Georgia
include eight KONE MiniSpace(TM) elevators travelling at speeds of
up to 1,200 fpm (6 meters per second) with the KONE Destination
destination control system, four KONE MonoSpace® 700 elevators and
one KONE MonoSpace® 500 elevator.
The project is being developed by
Westbank Project Corp., a leading developer of luxury residential
and mixed-use real estate headquartered in Vancouver, B.C. EllisDon
Construction is the general contractor and the design is by OSO,
Tokyo.
The order was booked in the third
quarter of 2018.
